BENEATH THE BAOBABS
THE NEW DESTINATION VENUE
IN EAST AFRICA

At the edge of the Indian Ocean on the Kenyan coast, nestled on a pristine forested plateau at the far reaches of the emerald Takaungu Creek, a small group of experienced producers and adventurous individuals have brought to life East Africa’s most unique destination venue ready to promote East African music, arts, community and culture.

Designed with the utmost respect for the environment at all times, Beneath the Baobabs is a fully functional, owner-managed, 50 acre event space, capable of hosting events of up to 10,000 people. Home to 5 Stages and Bars, indoor conference facilities, secret orange and lemon orchards, bamboo forests, hundreds of square meters of overhanging decks with spectacular views over the treetops, hideaway spaces in the shade of thousand year old Baobabs and so much more, Beneath the Baobabs is a site full of possibilities.

UP TO 10,000

The site itself is 50 acres of largely untouched indigenous forest on a plateau 30m above the source of the Takaungu Creek, forming a natural arena for major concerts, events and festivals; as well as for groups to converge and immerse themselves in community building, celebration, reconciliation and expression. The small ownership team has taken advantage of natural clearings and ancient Baobabs to design a unique and highly functional event space with 5 distinctive stage areas, and the potential to host and support events from exclusive and intimate, to festivals of 10,000 and most things in between.

OPEN FOR OUTSIDE EVENTS

Throughout the year, we host our own exciting festivals and events designed as platforms for music, art, dance and community. We are now excited to open the site for outside promoters, event organisers, workshop and retreat facilitators to take advantage of our fully functioning event site, concealed within the coastal landscape of Kilifi.

THE REGION'S MOST EXCITING DESTINATION VENUE

With a number of events, festivals and retreats planned throughout the year, Beneath the Baobabs is set to become the region’s most exciting destination event space. Our annual event calendar culminates in the celebration of each year’s growth and development, by calling together art, music and performance communities from across East Africa for 3 days, under the flagship event: Beneath the Baobabs Festival (formerly Kilifi New Year Festival).

STAGES, CAMPING & FUN

There are up to 5 stage options on site, all with their own unique natural features; whether under a shady tamarind tree, along a natural corridor that leads to a hidden bamboo forest or in the many gladed areas of the 50 Acre plateau, we have a number of options to choose from when designing an event. The now infamous 10m x 6m Main Stage at the heart of the site, has been designed around one of our giant ancient Baobabs, it’s a stage like no other.

The site also boasts several hundred square meters of suspended viewing platforms over the creek valley’s edge, 5 bars, 2 large campsites with Glamping options, a Beach Volleyball Court and an artisan Water Park with slides and swings.

POWER & WATER

Beneath the Baobabs has its own supply of water via an Aquifer, with water points spread across the 50 acres, supplying all Showers, the Water Park, Back stage, Bars, Vendors and more. Each area of the site is powered by a number of reliable distribution points allowing for confidence in a fully powered event with both KPLC mains and Generators connected.

BARAZA HUB

The Baraza Hub is a two story, covered, 250 square meter building, positioned at the heart of the site; perfect as an event Headquarters, with a fully equipped office and meeting space with tables, chairs, projector, fans and internet. With a scenic upper mezzanine and spacious terrace below, it can be the perfect event or work space to bring your group together.

SOUND & LIGHT

As producers of music festivals, Beneath the Baobabs is proud to be able to offer state of the art Sound and Lighting options for events of all sizes. We partner with Frontier Audio (Funktion 1 Kenya) and Gig Dynamics for professional stage, back-line and sound management services. For stage and site lighting design, we look to our partners Aurora Africa, who always ensure that the lighting for each event is distinct and creative.

We are open to creative solutions of all kinds when partnering or hosting third party events. Our team has both East African logistical expertise and experience to source the best equipment and talent for your events.
