MEET THE KISIMA COLLECTIVE
Hosted at Beneath the Baobabs in Kilifi, Kisima is our commitment to your wellness and consciousness. We welcome you to a safe space to relax, recharge and reconnect with others like you.
KISIMA is a celebration of ourselves and a loving + fierce reminder that we all can be the change we want to see, and that together that mission becomes more possible.
All are welcomed to participate in content relating to the four elements: ignite conversation, inspire healing, ground in nature and let your body flow.
Our third edition of Kisima will be held on the Easter Weekend 2024 (28th – 31st March) and will incorporate the planting of 2000 mangrove seedlings in partnership with The Leaf Charity.
Our mission is to increase the awareness and inclusivity of the wellness space in Kenya. We aim to achieve this by highlighting the multitude of available practices, traditional and innovative alike, that support individuals and communities to thrive.
In addition we have launched a growing community outreach programme which grants greater access to wellbeing practices in community, and increasing access to certification and training.

THE KISIMA STORY
KISIMA first came to be as an added feature to the Beneath the Baobabs Festival in 2018/2019. The KISIMA Mind, Body & Soul area was dedicated to holistic practices, workshops, discussions – all centered around creating space for human connection, creativity and mutual understanding.
A CELEBRATION FOR MIND, BODY AND SOUL
The KISIMA festival is a transformational experience where we celebrate life and all its wonders and focus on finding balance between Mind, Body & Soul.
KISIMA will remain a part of the yearly Beneath the Baobabs Festival. We are excited to truly honour our wellness community with a dedicated festival as well!
Picture yourself in the serenity of nature, distraction-free, under 2000 year old baobabs over the source of the Takaungu Creek. Try not to levitate!
KISIMA Mind is where you go to challenge your perspectives, explore new topics and release pressure by speaking your truth in a safe space where you will be listened to.
Our Baraza Hub will host thought-provoking & insightful conversations on topics such as Sexuality, Identity, Mental Resilience and the Science of Embodiment.
Other conversations will touch on unity across the African diaspora, who owns land on the continent and what we can do about it, what our cultural heritage means to us today and how we take back our power.
Expect to be encouraged, enlightened and invigorated by our talks, readings, workshops and panel discussions.
Science has greatly advanced our knowledge of the human body over the last many decades. At the same time the modern world is filled with new-age stressors (junk food, long commutes, auto-pollution, peak capitalism, inaccessible healthcare). As a result our bodies are more vulnerable than ever.
Come to KISIMA Body to discover how far you can push your body, learn how to de-stress and develop a sharper instinct for what your body needs.
Our unique site will lend itself wonderfully to our Body Workshops. Get ready to reconnect with every cell of your being by exploring a world of Yoga and Dance on our breezy viewing decks and stages, Aerial Silks from our mighty Baobabs and Martial Arts and Conscious Movement under the Tamarind Tree!
Oh and not forgetting to make some serious shapes on the dance floor!
At Beneath the Baobabs we believe that we are all united as Distant Relatives and our differences in spiritual practice only makes for a richer melting pot of humans!
Today’s world offers secularism and religion as the only two ways we can be as humans. We disagree.
KISIMA Soul is a space where people of all backgrounds and traditions come to connect to their wider consciousness.
We will open up the deeper corners of our tropical oasis for Ceremonies, Sharing Circles, Sound Therapy, Drumming Circles and Rituals, so that you can at once connect with yourself and the collective consciousness, no matter what your beliefs are.
Come to our Soul Workshops to fill your spiritual cup, let go of worldly limitations on what you should and shouldn’t believe and get in touch with your own divinity.
Expect soul nourishment, elevated consciousness and connection with your true self.
THE HEALING AREA

You can expect Super Juices, Artisan Beers, Tropical Smoothies and Healthy Food options to nourish the body and the odd treat for your wild side. We will also be setting up a sound system to keep the vibes real, showcasing some of the best performance talent that Kilifi has to offer.
