The Beneath the Baobabs team is a working family of creatives, logistical engineers and individuals inspired by a vision of an alternative future centred around our beautiful location on the coast of Kenya. Whether we are working towards one of our major festivals or preparing for a private event, we are always on the lookout for new team members.
We look for creative individuals with a passion for events and sustainability. We are looking for positive and self-driven individuals capable to oversee projects effectively and play an important role as part of an exciting team. Strong communication skills and empathy are key to working effectively with us; we welcome ideas and initiative from all participants, with the possibility of growth within the organisation for those who develop ideas with us.
As we approach an event, the team grows exponentially, allowing for people from all walks of life to rub shoulders and create cultural statements that make a difference. Each member of our team is a steward for our incredible site, offering a sense of collective pride and duty.
For current Job Applications or Opportunities to Volunteer, any active call-outs will appear here and on our social media.
Beneath the Baobabs has a participatory culture, welcoming people of all backgrounds to contribute to the site and our events. Our vibe is communal, open and authentic. Volunteering is typically a lot of hours fetching, minding, painting, moving and doing the leg work, but for those who get selected, it’s a great way to experience our events on a budget and get behind the scenes access. Great for up and coming artists, creatives and those keen to learn new skills.
A volunteer at BtB can expect to join a vibrant community on site in the build up to an event, with camping and catering provided, as well as team building activities and a conscientious Human Resources department on call; we ensure that all Volunteers needs are met.
Any open calls for Volunteer Applications will be listed here on our website. However, if you want us to keep in touch and send you volunteering opportunities as they happen, then please subscribe to our list below.
If you have some unique skills that you think we could be delighted to welcome, please tell us more in the form at the bottom of this page.
Each event we produce has a specific musical focus, so we are always keen to hear of new talent, old talent or hidden talent. Keep your eyes open for call outs. Don’t forget, if you have an idea for your brand or crew, there’s always the option of holding your own event set to the backdrop of our amazing Beneath the Baobabs site!
Please send us links to your EPK or website (no large file attachments please) so we can see & hear what you do – we’ll make sure to get back to you soonest!

We are always delighted to welcome members of the media who are interested in covering our story, our vision, our events. Beneath the Baobabs is only at the beginning of its journey to offer a cultural sanctuary for a number of exciting creative movements emerging from East Africa. Since a good few years, there is already a beautiful movement of creatives, community builders, activists, eco-builders and other dreamers who have decided to migrate to Kilifi and make it their new home.
